Scope:
Shannon & Wilson-Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants
For this project, SRI was responsible for locating three buried train cars, an existing sewer line and any other underground utilities crossing through our area. The environmental consultants were hired to confirm if any soil contamination has occurred over the years. These train cars were approximately 20 feet long by 10 feet wide and buried underground many years ago, filled with diesel fuel, presumably to run the generators in the event of a power outage. Our purpose was to locate clear areas for taking soils samples without damaging the tanks or existing buried utilities.

(using the 400Mhz antenna, the perfect tool for utilities up to 10' deep)
SRImaging locating the edges of the buried train car tank and underground utilities.

Once the limits of the tanks were found with the ground radar then we located a clear area for taking the soil samples

The drilling rig was brought in and take soil samples
up to approximately 10 feet deep

The soil was collected through a series of plastic sleeves inserted inside of the drilling bit itself. The soil from these sleeves were then collected and emission tested. Then sent off to a laboratory for further in-depth testing.

Our goal is to provide areas for our customers to safely core, through clear communication. If your company wants to safely drill, Structural Radar Imaging's underground utility surveys can help.
